About Us
Welcome to Linguistics and Bio-diversity, where we are dedicated to unraveling the intricate relationship between biodiversity and linguistic diversity. Our research focuses on the conservation of languages and the documentation of biodiversity, with a particular emphasis on African languages such as Dagaare, Twi, Hausa, and Swahili.
Located at the School of Languages, University of Ghana, our project aims to enhance the understanding of the interconnection between different cultures and environments through language and biodiversity research
Objectives and Aims
Our main goal is to explore the importance of linguistic diversity in the preservation of biodiversity. By conducting fieldwork and collaborating with local experts, we aim to shed light on the significance of cross-cultural communication in fostering understanding of how language diversity can help protect biodiversity.
Furthermore, we provide academic training for undergraduate and graduate students interested in the intersection of language and the environment. While our initial focus is on four African languages, we are open to exploring other languages in the future to broaden our research scope.
